About Us

Valued & Loved Family Outreach Services

Valued and Loved Family Outreach Services, Inc. is a Non-Profit Human Service Organization , serving at risk youth and their families with a bottom-up approach with innovative ways to help improve the development of children, to improve the functioning of families, to improve the school performance of children, to interrelate at risk youth and their families with other constructive services within the community, and assist the elderly.

Who We Are

Valued & Loved Family Outreach Services is a team of passionate educators, advocates, mentors, volunteers, and community partners committed to creating brighter futures for children and families throughout our community.

Our work is centered on youth development, providing opportunities that inspire learning, build confidence, and encourage lifelong success. Through literacy, mathematics, STEM and STEAM enrichment, mentoring, leadership development, health education, and community engagement, we help children develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

We also recognize that children succeed when families and communities are engaged. That's why we work alongside parents, caregivers, schools, churches, local agencies, and community partners to create a strong support system that benefits everyone.

The Story Behind Our Name

Valued & Loved Family Outreach Services began with one woman, one vision, and one unwavering belief: every person deserves to know they are valued and loved.

For more than 20 years, Valerie Chatman, known to family, friends, students, and many throughout the community simply as "Val" or "Ms. Valerie", dedicated her life to educating, encouraging, and inspiring young people. As a mother of four and a lifelong educator, she saw firsthand how a few words of encouragement could change a child's confidence, a family's outlook, and even a community's future.

When Valerie founded the organization, she wanted its name to reflect both its mission and the values that had guided her life. Valued And Loved became more than a name, it became a promise. The initials V.A.L. are a tribute to the name by which so many know her, while the words represent the belief that has always been at the heart of her work: every child, every family, and every community member deserves to feel valued and loved.

That same meaning is reflected in our logo. The heart forms the "V" of Valued while symbolizing the love, compassion, and hope that define everything we do. Together, the name and logo tell the story of an organization built on service, encouragement, and genuine care for others.

Recognizing that children and families in Wilkinson County needed greater access to educational opportunities beyond the classroom, Valerie envisioned an organization that would invest in youth through literacy, mathematics, STEM and STEAM education, leadership development, mentoring, health advocacy, and life-enriching experiences. She believed that when children are empowered, families grow stronger, and communities become healthier and more connected.

Today, Valued & Loved Family Outreach Services continues to carry that vision forward. Every program, every partnership, every volunteer, and every act of service is rooted in the same promise that inspired its beginning:

Every child deserves opportunity.

Every family deserves hope.

Every community deserves unity.

Every person deserves to know they are truly Valued & Loved.

Our mission is to act as an liaison between School Districts, Parents, Churches, Educational Institutions, Health Departments, Family Connection Collaboratives, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE), Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Department of Juvenile Justice, and other organizations serving children and families.  We are aiming for results for children and families.

Main focus: “Family, Youth and Community Development.”

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a community where every child has the opportunity to succeed, every family feels supported, and every individual is empowered to reach their fullest potential. We believe that investing in our youth today builds stronger families and healthier communities for generations to come.

What We Do

Our programs are designed to educate, encourage, and empower youth while providing meaningful support to families and the community.

We offer educational enrichment through reading literacy, mathematics, STEM and STEAM experiences, mentoring, leadership development, summer and after-school programs, health advocacy, life skills education, and community outreach initiatives. Every program is intentionally designed to help children build confidence, strengthen academic success, develop positive character, and prepare for lifelong achievement.

Our Approach

We believe lasting change happens when children, families, schools, and communities work together.

Our approach combines education, mentoring, advocacy, and community collaboration to meet the unique needs of those we serve. We create safe, welcoming environments where young people are encouraged to learn, families are equipped with valuable resources, and community partnerships work together to expand opportunities for everyone.

Every program is delivered with compassion, respect, integrity, and a genuine commitment to helping individuals recognize their worth and realize their potential.
